Uploading and publishing are two different things. The frames go up as soon as there is a connection, but the albums are not reachable until you allow it. That is what makes your work safe immediately, while you still decide when parents get to look.
The upload tolerates interruption, and can run as you go
You can start the upload as soon as there is internet. If the connection drops along the way, or you stop it yourself, it later picks up where it left off.
You can carry on working while it runs. The upload happens in the background, it does not hold up the sorting, and you never have to wait for it to finish.
Your work is safe straight away
The upload step is not only about speed. The moment a frame is up, it no longer exists solely on your laptop.
A failed drive or a laptop left behind after a school shoot is not an inconvenience, it is a catastrophe: that day cannot be photographed again, and the embarrassment is enormous. Uploading as you go removes that risk completely.
Review and technical retouching
Before anyone sees the frames you can go through the material: taking out the ones that did not work, technical retouching for colour, sharpness and cropping. You do not necessarily want to put a parent off buying with a crooked frame shown too early, so you can go over these before the album is published.
This is an option rather than an obligation, and everyone can work to their own system. Some people review the frames on the laptop before uploading, and publish the albums as soon as the upload finishes.
